What amenities and furnishings does the Casa offer?
• USA Today calls Riviera Nayarit "Mexico's Next Great Place."
• Conde Nast rates the 7th fairway of the Four Seasons Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course #1 in the world in 2007.
• Johnny Miller says " "This beautiful home overlooking the 7th fairway and the beach of Banderas Bay is peaceful and private with an open tropical feeling. The accommodations were inviting and comfortable, especially the beds. It is well taken care of, clean, and beautifully appointed. It was great being close to the little village of Punta de Mita with its authentic Mexican flavor but then very exclusive with no commercialism in the private backyard with the incredible infinity pool. I will stay here often!"
Where is the casa? (back to top)
Casa Joya del Mar is situated in the beautiful, exclusive gated Lagos del Mar Estates in Punta Mita, Nayarit, Mexico. The address is 2 Lagos del Mar.
Guests fly into Puerto Vallarta, airport code PVR. Many airlines provide travel service to Mexico. You may rent a car or hire a cab or van to transport from the International Airport of Puerto Vallarta to Punta Mita. Take the main highway past Bucerias (about 15 minutes from the airport). About a mile past Bucerias take the exit to the right to Punta Mita. Follow the road about 25 minutes to the main entrance of Punta Mita. From the main entrance of Punta Mita, continue up the road about 2 miles, through the main glorieta or roundabout (12 o’clock). Continue past the Hacienda de Mita entrance by about 250 yards, then left on the first street (unmarked). Continue another 350 yards to the guard gate of Lagos del Mar. Casa Joya del Mar is located on Lot 2 of Lagos del Mar Estates and is the first home on the left after passing through the gate.
The house was completed in December 2007. It is situated on the 7th fairway of the Jack Nicholas Four Seasons golf course, with beautiful views of the 7th hole and the ocean below.
How many guests can stay at the casa?
The house sleeps twelve comfortably. There are four Master Suites, all with ocean views, and a small fifth bedroom called the Garden Room. Three of the Masters Suites have king beds and one Master Suite has two queen beds. The Garden Room has two twin beds. Two Master Suites have outside entrances. Each has a full bath. Two suites each have a Jacuzzi. One suite has an outdoor and an indoor shower.
What does the casa offer? Is it enjoyable during all seasons?
The house is designed for elegant, relaxing living year round. Inside, there is a gourmet kitchen, media and game rooms and spacious dining and living areas. One side of the spacious living room slides open to create an indoor/outdoor living area. Outside is a patio with several seating areas for enjoying family and friends, dining, reading or resting during the day or evening. There is an infinity swimming pool, BBQ, spa, fountain and day bed for relaxing by the pool, with lovely, soothing views toward the golf course and ocean beyond.
There is air conditioning for use during the warmest months and fans for use year round.
What activities are nearby? (back to top)
Golf, tennis, jogging trails and the beach are all favorite activities while at Punta Mita, available via a free shuttle service. A gym and spa facility is a 5 minute walk away. The house is pleasantly designed to allow guests to relax, read, swim, play games and enjoy meals prepared by local cooks.
Puerto Vallarta and smaller towns along the Mexico coast offer a variety of activities, from shopping to surfing, snorkeling, diving, horseback riding and much more.
Residents and guests at Lagos del Mar have privileges at the Residents Beach Club, a beautiful, well-kept beach with amenities and dining just a few minutes by car or guest shuttle from Casa Joya del Mar.
Is there easy access to the beach?
Casa Joya del Mar has one of the best and easiest accesses to the beach of all the estate homes. From the veranda, just follow the golf cart path toward the ocean about 50 yards, then cross the tee box for hole 8 and you will see easy access to the beach about 25 yards from the cart path. If you turn left (east), you will cross past the Hacienda de Mita condos to your left, and then continue to the beach and boarding area for fishing and whale watching. The first restaurant to your left is Swimmers, which has good food and an easy entrance to the small town. You can purchase basic food products (eggs, milk, bread, fruit, etc.) from one of the small stores on the main street. Also, surfboards can be rented at local surf shops. Depending on the size of the waves, time of day, tide and wind, good surfing can be enjoyed in front of the Hacienda de Mita condos. Surf booties are recommended. Watch out for the rocks.
Is there maid service? Is there a cook?
Every day that guests are at the house, maid service is provided. Our house keeper Raina will welcome all guests with a warm hello – “Hola”— and will accommodate special requests for housekeeping and orientation. For an additional cost, a cook will be provided to prepare two meals each day, usually lunch or dinner. You may also wish to dine at the Residents Beach Club and enjoy the club during the day or make reservations at the Four Seasons. There are many excellent beachfront restaurants at the small town, just outside the gate of Punta Mita.
How is the security? (back to top)
Punta Mita has a large staff of guards who frequently ask you who you are, where you are staying, and where you are going. They will take down your license plate number and count the number of people in the car. They may also question you if you come up from the beach to make sure you are a guest and that you are observing golf etiquette and safety by not walking on the golf course while golfers may be hitting balls in your direction. They patrol 24 hours a day and are all uniformed. There is a security camera at the beach entrance watching the beach and the path back to the property. While security is paramount and as thorough as possible, we suggest that guests use good judgment and always secure valuables and lock the house if no guests remain at the premises.
We wish our guests to feel safe and secure. The 24-hour security guard at Lagos del Mar is located just 50 yards from the driveway of Casa Joya del Mar. Calls to security are responded to quickly.
Most people say “don’t drink the water” in Mexico, but Casa Joya del Mar has a water purification system for the house that includes soft water and drinking water. Most people prefer to purchase bottled water and ice from the local market. However, the owners of the house have been drinking the water straight from the tap and have never been ill.
What do guests need to know about maintenance of the house and grounds?
House Maintenance (back to top)
The house is managed by Mita Residential. Carlos Mora is responsible for all aspects of the house. He makes sure that guests enjoy their stay at Casa Joya del Mar and Punta Mita. Feel free to call Carlos if you need anything. If you find maintenance items that need attention—a light bulb to change or anything else—please advise Raina and she will attend to it. Pedro, the maintenance supervisor, stops by frequently and he can also address any problems or issues with the house and grounds.
Workers may come by to mow the lawn, clean the pool, wash windows and perform other maintenance duties. They are instructed and trained to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Pool, SPA & Fountains
The pool and SPA equipment are set to run daily to circulate and filter the water. Water temperature can be adjusted to the needs of the guests, using the control panel located to the left (facing the pool) inside the large sliding glass doors of the living room. The pool has three depths and no diving is allowed.
The three fountains add beauty and soothing ambient water noise, if guests so desire. Each fountain is controlled by a light switch. The fountain by the pool has a switch to the left of the large sliding glass door. The fountain at the entry to the house is controlled by a switch to the right of the front door. The courtyard fountain along the stairway near the kitchen is controlled by a switch to the right of the doors.
Air Conditioning
The entire house has air conditioning, which can be controlled room by room. It was designed to save energy and be used only as needed during the warmer summer months. There are fans throughout the house and windows that capture ocean cross breeze. The bedrooms all have windows with screens (behind the shutters) and the gentle ocean breeze or the ceiling fan will provide guests with a pleasant sleeping environment.
Windows
The windows open horizontally when the handle is in the horizontal position. Only move the handle when the window is closed. To open the window from the top, just move the handle up, and pull the top of the window open. To lock the window, move the handle to the down position.
Indoor/Outdoor Living
The large sliding glass doors open all the way, inviting guests to enjoy the beauty of the golf course and ocean views. Doors slide into the walls at each end of the living room. Fans may be used to augment the ocean breeze. The house should be locked if all guests leave during the evening or night. Make sure to take the front door key with you. During the day, Raina will watch after things while she does her housekeeping and while you enjoy golfing or a walk along the beach.
What if there is a medical emergency? (back to top)
There is a doctor at Punta Mita available to serve the needs of all guests. The doctor makes house calls, or guests can visit the medical office located just east of the main roundabout on the road toward the service entrance, across the street from the Homeowners Association.
Whom do I contact with questions?
Questions and comments may be directed to Carlos Mora at Mita Residential or to J. Russell Haycock at: rhaycock@hotmail.com. We welcome your suggestions and hope you have a pleasant stay at Casa Joya del Mar.
